3. Executive Summary

This project is made for my friend, Yang. She wants a heating kettle which could be allowed in her dorm since the university does not allow high-power electronics in dorm. I considered making the kettle straight at first, but then I found that it's quite hard for me to deal with the heating part safely. In this case, I went to another way: I planned to make an alarm for Yang which could remind her to take hot water from outside back to her dorm. It's safer and simpler to make an alarm than to make a heating kettle.

My alarm contains three functions: the piezo, the LED, and the switch. After a certain time interval, the piezo will make sounds and the LED will start to blink, which is designed to drag user's attention in the perspective of sound and light. The sound and light will keep a few second and then be turned off. If user wants to turn off them in advance, user could press the switch so the alarm would be silent and the next loop would start.

What I learned from this lesson helped me a lot. The systematic way to design helped me to figure out my customer's demand and  where should my project goes. The sketch skills I learned halped me to get better understanding to my possible solutions and thus I could pick up the most suitable solution as my final project.
